In memory of Vanessa Langer. Vanessa and her unborn child were killed Sept, 11, 2001.
Vanessa was in the South Tower on the 93rd floor. After both towers had been struck, Vanessa was on the phone with her mother who was urging Vanessa to get out of the building and to safety. The last thing Vanessa ever said to her mother was, "It's o.k. mom. They told us to stay where we are...it's safe."
"You are not forgotten Vanessa. I learned much about you from the many conversations with your mother. You are not just a statistic, but were a very real 23 year old young woman looking forward to being a mother and whose life was cruelly snuffed out. I agree with your mother when she points the finger of blame for your murder straight at Bush/Cheney."
If we in this nation truly want to honor those who were killed on 9/11/2001 then we must demand answers to a lot of unanswered questions about 9/11/2001--before, during and after. And we must take a hard look at the security state this nation is turning into as a result.
If the national tragedy behind hurricane Katrina were to show us nothing else, it has shown that we do not have an effective competent government today after hundreds of billions have been spent on who knows what, any more than we did on 9/11/2001. In fact those who dare call themselves the nation's "leaders" have greatly diminished the ability to handle national disasters and are directly responsible for creating the conditions under which Katrina has become an unmitigated disaster; and that's on top of the covering up of 9/11 and what really happened.
Bush/Cheney & Co., Inc. have a lot to answer for, not the least of which is the murder of Vanessa and the needless slaughter taking place in Iraq that 9/11 has been used as a pretext for; and the destruction of our rights and liberties, just ask Jose Padilla, an American citizen, incarcerated for 3 1/2 years now with no charges other than Bush declared him an "enemy combatant"-- what ever in the hell that means. All with the blessings of the federal courts. Gives an all new meaning to the "rule of law."
Like I said, if we in this nation want to honor those who were killed on 9/11/2001, as was Vanessa, then we must ask the questions that Vanessa and the others who died on that day cannot ask--and we cannot stop asking questions and demanding answers--forcefully as there is too much at stake to be timid--until such time as there is a full accounting with responsible parties being compelled to stand trial if that is where an accounting leads (which I for one believe is an absolute). And we better get real busy with the questions and demand for answers while we are still able.
Tens upon tens of thousands of innocent people have been killed in Iraq and Afghanistan by this nation under the pretext of 9/11 while those responsible run free. Bush/Cheney have brought dishonor to this nation at a level never before seen and they must be held to account, as should this current greedy self-serving congress. They have commited all manner of deceptions resulting in "murder and mayhem" in the name of Vanessa and the others who died on 9/11, as well as in all of our names--for these things and more the Bush/Cheney cabal must be held to account. That is how we can honor the memories of Vanessa and those that died on 9/11 and those who have died since as a direct result of the unleashing of the "dogs of war" by Bush/Cheney.
